The Bellingham Farmers Market

A bustling summer farmers market with produce stalls in downtown Bellingham

APRIL TO DECEMBER

Bellingham Farmers Market

Saturdays downtown, Wednesdays in Fairhaven – where the whole town shows up.

If you want to understand a town, go to its farmers market. Bellingham’s is one of the best in the state — Saturdays in the heart of downtown, Wednesdays down in Fairhaven, packed with local farms, makers, food, and music from spring through the holidays.

What you’ll find

Strawberries in June, flowers all summer, fall squash and apples, plus cheese, bread, seafood, and a deep bench of prepared-food vendors and crafts. A lot of people treat Saturday morning as a standing appointment — coffee, a lap of the stalls, and live music in the square.

The local-food scene

The market is the front door to a serious local-food culture. Whatcom County is rich farmland, and the connection between the fields and the table here is short and real. It is also just a great place to run into half the people you know.

When and where

The downtown market runs Saturdays from spring into December at the Depot Market Square; the Fairhaven market runs Wednesdays in summer. Both are free, walkable, and dog-friendly.

Thinking about life here?
