SEPTEMBER · WATERFRONT
Bellingham SeaFeast
A free two-day celebration of the working waterfront and the fishing fleet.
Bellingham still earns part of its living from the sea, and once a year the whole town shows up to celebrate it. SeaFeast is a free two-day festival on the waterfront every September, built around the commercial fishing fleet, the seafood it lands, and the maritime culture that has shaped this place for generations.
Fresh off the boat
The food is the headline — Dungeness crab, salmon, oysters, and chowder, much of it landed by the same boats tied up a few feet away. There are cooking demos, a crab feed, and vendors lining the docks at Squalicum Harbor and Zuanich Point.
More than a meal
SeaFeast leans into the working side of the harbor: vessel tours, a survival-suit race, kids’ activities, live music, and a real chance to meet the fishermen. It is part festival, part education, and entirely free to attend.
When and where
SeaFeast runs the third weekend of September at Squalicum Harbor, Zuanich Point Park, and Fisherman’s Pavilion. Parking fills up, so the South Bay Trail or a bike is your friend. Come hungry.
Thinking about life here?
Events like this are the texture of a year in Bellingham. See everything within ninety minutes of town on the interactive Fun Guide — and if you are starting to picture this as your own backyard, let us talk. I am Genaro Shaffer, a broker who actually lives this stuff.
